Pre-School

About us

Education can help children lead creative, constructive and thoughtful lives.

In the Pre-School, emphasis is placed on exploration and discovery in a safe and nurturing environment. Our curriculum is planned around the individual needs for growth - creating opportunities for our children to become independent by learning to take care of themselves. Our focus lies in helping our pre-schoolers develop and grow into socially equipped little people, who are ready for the demands of the foundation phase and the schooling years to come.

Ongoing observation of the children’s behaviour, participation and progress are documented and shared with parents verbally and through written reports. We welcome an “open door” policy and encourage our parents to have an open relationship with us. As a preschool and parents, we need to bridge the gap between home and formal schooling and aim to build a partnership – ultimately, we have the same goal – developing successful, well-rounded children.

Our pre-school consists of three classes

Gr000 – the year the child turns 4.

Gr00 – the year the child turns 5.

Gr0 – the year the child turns 6.

Preschool hours: 8:00 – 13:00.

Aftercare: 13:15 – 17:00.

Academics

The Pre-school programme offers learning opportunities in a wide variety of instructional strategies, to serve our vision of inspiring our pre-schoolers to develop a love of learning.

We embrace many different techniques, theories and ideas. We look at the child as a whole, much the same as our educational approach. Our curriculum develops all aspects of each child i.e. the social; emotional; intellectual; aesthetic and physical; through active participation in the learning process. We respect that each child learns at their own pace and in his own way.

All four grades work at developing these skills at an age-appropriate level using a variety of methodologies to develop the necessary skills, attitudes and concepts. Our small classes with teaching assistants allow for teachers to work in-depth with small groups or individually while the other children complete activities independently with the aid of our teaching assistant. Music is also incorporated into our daily programme.

Extra Murals

MonkeyNastix forms part of our curriculum. MonkeyNastix is a unique pre-school gymnastics and movement education programme for children between the ages of 3-6.

Perceptual motor development is taught in a fun way. This takes place during the normal school day. Costs are covered by the Extra-curricular fee payable when enrolling your child.

Ball skills also form part of our curriculum developing the child’s physical and gross motor skills in a fun and engaging way.
